Conceptual engraving: an exploded workstation and a small blue-eyed agent glyph represent a lower-cost model built for computer-use tasks.

OpenAI released GPT-6.1 Terra in ChatGPT Work, Codex and its API, pricing it at $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens. OpenAI reports gains in computer use, coding and factuality over GPT-5.6 Terra, but the launch benchmarks and speed comparisons are vendor-run.

Why it matters

A cheaper computer-use model could widen agent deployment, while real-world reliability, permission handling and the vendor's benchmark claims still need independent testing.
